About Chad Calahan
Chad Calahan is a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, author, husband, and father whose writing is shaped by real experience, hard-earned perspective, and a willingness to tackle subjects that aren’t always comfortable to talk about.
After serving 20 years in the United States Air Force as an F-15 and F-22 aircraft crew chief, Chad traded flight lines and fighter jets for a different kind of work: putting stories on paper.
His first book, Torque & Trauma, is a deeply personal memoir exploring childhood abuse, military service, PTSD, resilience, and the long process of confronting the things we often spend years trying to bury. Told with candor and dark humor, the book reflects Chad’s belief that some stories are worth telling precisely because they’re difficult to tell.
His latest work takes that same willingness to question, investigate, and dig beneath the surface into the circumstances surrounding the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. A lifelong fan of the grunge era, Chad approaches the subject not simply as a music fan, but as an author determined to examine the evidence, inconsistencies, witness accounts, and unanswered questions that have kept the case controversial for more than three decades.
Chad doesn’t write from an ivory tower. He writes from lived experience, curiosity, research, and the belief that readers deserve authenticity over polish and difficult questions over convenient answers.
Today, Chad lives in eastern North Carolina with his family, where he continues to write, work, and pursue the stories that refuse to leave him alone.
